TRIBUTE SUMMER 18 - GIVENCHY (+ comp !)

So, for my first series of articles, I want to start with this last Tribute season and, oh well, we may surely say that we got lucky. Givenchy was the first store up. The display was different - in Museum Mile - I thought for a while that it was limited just like that Jean Paul Gaultier tribute but, nope. The prices were still not cheap tho. Meh ; so long, dear savings...
Tributes are usually elaborated as a nice gathering of samples from a single collection. Here, it is a compendium of some remarkable ones, which is, correct me if I'm wrong, the first time we get this sort of retrospective 1. during Tribute season and 2. not under its own Tribute store. Weird but ok, why not. Still, it's not that bad if it becomes a thing. It's always interesting to highlight a designer or a House's work.

Although I do actually like this release, I kinda wish it was a little more focused on the last Fall runways as Clare Waight Keller made an interesting retrospective of Givenchy's work (he past away this year). Here's below some pictures to support my argument and to give you an idea of the quality of her last collection, reflecting her own version of Givenchy's heritage.

Givenchy Fall Ready-to-Wear 2018

Anyway, enough ramble. I think that - and from what I could understand from discussion on the stardoll's sphere - overall, it's a good release. Some items are definitely going to be on my doll quite a lot, some have some interesting potential and some are just very odd but playful

Side note : my classification remains the same eheh.
***** wearability counter (from 1 to 4)
***** must-have alert 💕 (5 and above)
***** ditch/burn/go to hell 💩 (0 and below)

So, drum rolls :

(above)
- BLACK TURTLENECK ****/my favorite piece of this collection ; you guessed it : versatile, basic, tailored. The sleeves are a little longer than usual and the shoulder are padded, certainly giving elegance to this well-known type of technical wear. A classic, slightly revised 80's vibe. A must.

- BLUE BAG ***** /accessories are always interesting when it comes to Tributes, and this one is no exception. An recent addition to this homage collection adding a certain edginess to this whole release. The color is vibrant and, although the strap screams sportswear, the boxiness of the bag itself balance its style and may brings any classic touch to a casual vibe, or a dash of fun to any boring composition.
- BLACK BELT ***** /another interesting accessory. Small and plain black, but still very structured. It also slightly moves to corset/sash vibes by being so large. Notice the shiny reflect, for a perfect touch of polished leather on any slouchy outfit. Demands a little bit editing on most outfits to fit perfectly.
- BLACK/WHITE LACE DRESS ***** /dresses are hard to style on their own, but this one makes you forget this actually pretty quickly. Lacy and airy, with a classic twist of black and white, it is wild and elegant at the same time. The unique shoulder strap adds edginess and modernity to a pattern borrowed to that timeless Hepburn gown. Wild and elegant ; but I still wish it was sold as separates.
- STRIPE BLUE TSHIRT ***** /I wish it was made also as a female version - but it is still wearable. Very casual, with an interesting oversize fit ; the color pops and the pattern has dimension with those thin white stripes between the blue and black ones.

ANTIGONA BAG BLACK /the classic Givenchy bag, interesting for collection or display, but makes outfits heavier. Use wisely ***** _WEDGE & PLATFORM SANDALS /fun items with a lot of edge, yet very bulky. Unconventional gems ***** _FEATHER SKIRT /not everyday look but interesting underwear ; part of the Paradise Birds collection previously released in Bizou *****

Givenchy Spring Ready-to-Wear + Resort 2018

Alright, here are my outfits. I really adore the sleek Givenchy vibe, with polished materials and minimalist cuts... but I also adore the use of crazy vibrant colors sometimes the brand seems to tend to. So, here's my compendium ! No editorial line for this one, but surely you'll recognize some of my favorite characters !
